Have you done anything exciting this week?  Queen Anne-Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Company is actively recruiting new and inactive members.  Please consider taking advantage of the Free Training, provided by the University of Maryland, Fire and Rescue Institute; Free Uniforms and protective gear; and lucrative state tax incentives and join us today.  Volunteers are needed for Fire & Rescue, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Fire Cadets, and Administrative/fund Raising.

Passenger Vehicle Roll Over off Starr Road

May 13, 2012 - At approximately 5:10 AM Queen Anne’s County dispatched Talbot County Station 80 (Queen Anne-Hillsboro), Station 50 (Cordova), Paramedic 400 and EMS-3 for an MVC with rollover in the area of 2113 Starr Road.

Chief 80 (C. Morgan) arrived on location to find one vehicle overturned in the field with both occupants self extricated and Officer 803 (C. Morgan) established command. After patient evaluation Paramedics requested Aviation. Command requested Engine 54 secure the LZ at the Armory in Queen Anne. One patient was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore by Trooper 6 and the other patient was transported to the Memorial Hospital at Easton.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Maryland State Police.

Working House Fire on Saddle Back Lane
Monday, April 9, 2012

April 9, 2012 - At approximately 2:00 AM Caroline dispatched Station 400 (Ridgely), Station 600 (Greensboro), Station 300 (Denton), Talbot County Station 80 (Queen Anne-Hillsboro) and Paramedic 14 for a working house fire on Saddle Back Lane.

Chief 4 (B. Utz) arrived on location, reported a two story wood framed structure fully involved and advised Caroline the correct location would be at the end of Squire Lane. Officer 415 (B. Utz) established command and advised all responding units that there was a propane tank on the “Delta” side of the structure that was venting. Engine 401 laid a supply line in and crews placed several hand lines in service. Station 700 (Goldsboro) was added to the Box and Engine 703 was sent to the Tuckahoe State Park to establish a draft site at the lake. Tower 310 arrived and was placed into service to extinguish the remainder of the blaze. Crews remained on the scene for several hours doing extensive overhaul.

One firefighter was transported to the Memorial Hospital at Easton with minor injuries and the Red Cross was requested to assist the displaced family. The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshall’s Office.

Units on scene: Chief 4, Engine 401, Engine 406, Tanker 406, Rescue 300, Tower 310, Tanker 306, Engine 603, Engine 604, Tanker 606, Tanker 704, Engine 703, Tanker 86, Engine 85, Paramedic 13 and Paramedic 14.

MVC with Flyout Rt 50 & Rt 404
Sunday, April 1, 2012

Shortly after lunch Talbot Center dispatched Station 80 (Queen Anne-Hillsboro) and Paramedic 90 for a 10-50 PI at Route 50 and Route 404. Chief 80 (T. Unruh) arrived on location to find several vehicles involved in a rear end style collision. Officer 802 (T. Unruh) established command and requested additional Paramedic units.

Talbot Center added Queen Anne’s County Paramedic 40, Paramedic 300 and Caroline County Paramedic 16 to the Rescue Box. After patient evaluation, Aviation was requested. One patient was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center by Trooper 6 while six other patients were transported by ground to local facilities.

Units on scene: Chief 80, Rescue 84, Ambulance 80, Paramedic 90, Paramedic 40, Paramedic 300, Paramedic 16, Trooper 6, Maryland State Police and Talbot Sheriff’s Dept.

MVC Serious with Rollover & Entrapment

At 7:00 PM Caroline dispatched Talbot County Station 80 (Queen Anne-Hillsboro) and Paramedic 13 for an MVC, reported serious with rollover and entrapment on Shore Highway (Route 404) in the area of Hillsboro Road.

Chief 80 (C. Morgan) arrived on location to find two vehicles involved, one overturned with two patients entrapped. Officer 803 (C. Morgan) established command and requested an additional Paramedic Unit and assistance from Station 400 (Ridgely). Crews worked to stabilize the vehicle and prepared for extrication. Command requested Aviation, and Trooper 6 was dispatched. Officer 416 (W. Winchester) from Engine 401 handled the LZ. One patient refused treatment at the scene and two patients were transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center by Trooper 6.

Shore Highway was closed in both directions for the duration of the call and the Maryland State Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Units on scene: Chief 80, Rescue 84, Engine 85, Ambulance 80, Engine 401, Engine 405, Paramedic 13, Talbot County Paramedic 90, Trooper 6, MSP, and State Highway.

Sta 80 Assist Ridgely with House Fire

At approximately 10:00 PM Caroline dispatched Station 400 (Ridgely), Station 600 (Greensboro), Station 300 (Denton) and Talbot County Station 80 (Queen Anne-Hillsboro) for a house fire at 109 N. Maryland Avenue.

Chief 4 (W. Winchester) arrived on location to find a working fire in the rear of the structure and established command. Engine 401 dropped a supply line at the hydrant and proceeded into the scene. Crews pulled several hand lines and quickly extinguished the blaze. The structure suffered heavy fire damage to the kitchen. Crews remained on the scene for approximately 1 ½ hours doing overhaul and packing up.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the State Fire Marshall’s Office.

Units on scene: Chief 4, Engine 401, Engine 405, Tanker 406, Canteen 4, Rescue 600, Engine 604, Chief 3, Tower 310, Engine 85, Rescue 84, Ambulance 80, and Ridgely PD.

Sta 80 Assist Greensboro with Working House Fire

At approximately 1:35 PM Caroline dispatched Station 600 (Greensboro), Station 700 (Goldsboro), Station 400 (Ridgely), Station 300 (Denton) and Talbot County Station 80 (Queen Anne-Hillsboro) for a structure fire at 12831 Ridgely Road.

Engine 604 arrived on location to find one structure fully involved and Officer 616 (B. Biddle) established command. Crews pulled hand lines from Engine 604 and quickly knocked the bulk of the fire however a large amount of overhaul was required keeping crews on the scene for several hours.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the State Fire Marshall’s Office.

QAHVFC Assists Sta 60 with Overturned Gasoline Tanker
Saturday, February 11, 2012

At approximately 7:15 AM Talbot Center dispatched Station 60 (Easton) and Paramedic 90 for a 10-50 PI with rollover on Ocean Gateway (Route 50) in the area of Airport Road. Chief 60 (J. McNeal) arrived on location; reported one tractor-trailer overturned and established “Ocean Gateway” Command.

After further investigation, Command advised all responding units that the truck was carrying 7,000 gallons of gasoline and there was smoke coming from the tractor. At this time Command requested the Talbot County Pump-Off Trailer, Station 50 (Cordova) and MDE be added to the Rescue Box. Crews arrived, quickly applied foam to the tractor extinguishing the small fire and started containing the gasoline leaking from the trailer. MDE arrived and pumped the remainder of the gasoline from the trailer however approximately 3,200 gallons leaked into the ground.

Equipment from Station 80 (Queen Anne-Hillsboro), Station 40 (St. Michaels) and Canteen 4 also provided assistance at the scene. The driver of the truck was transported to the Memorial Hospital at Easton with minor injuries and later returned to the scene. Route 50 remained closed to all traffic in both directions until approximately 3:30 PM.

Truck Fire at Rt 404 & Rt 50
Monday, January 30, 2012

January 30, 2012 - Approximately 12:45 PM Talbot Center dispatched
 station 80 (Queen Anne-Hillsboro) for a vehicle fire at the intersection
 of Route 404 and Route 50. Brush 26 from Oxford was passing by, stopped
to assist and advised Talbot Center it was a box truck fully involved.
Engine 85 went responding and requested an additional Engine from
Station 50 (Cordova). Crews were able to knock the blaze quickly; however
 the truck was a total loss. Firefighter (D. Chaires) had command.

Units on scene: Engine 85, Tanker 86, Engine 54, Maryland State Police
and Talbot Sheriff’s Dept.

Working Structure Fire on Chriss Drive
Thursday, January 26, 2012

January 26, 2012 - At approximately 3:40 PM Queen Anne’s County dispatched Station 4 (Goodwill), Talbot County Station 80 (Queen Anne-Hillsboro) and Caroline County Station 400 (Ridgely) for a working house fire at 108 Chriss Drive. Officer 306 (J. Lewis) arrived on location and reported heavy fire in thegarage of the structure. Chief 4 (N. Powell) arrived and established “Chriss Drive” command. Crews make a quick knock on the blaze and were able to keep it contained to the garage; however the entire structure suffered severe smoke damage. Units remained on the scene for approximately 1 ½ hours for overhaul and ventilation.

Motor Vehicle Collision with Rollover
Monday, January 16, 2012

January 16, 2012 - Talbot Center dispatched Station 80 (Queen Anne-Hillsboro) for a 10-50 PI with rollover at the intersection of Route 50 and Route 404. Units arrived on location to find one vehicle overturned with the occupant out of the vehicle. After patient assessment, Paramedics requested Aviation. One patient was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center by Trooper 6.

Units on scene: Rescue 84, Ambulance 81, QAC Paramedic 40, Trooper 6 and MSP
